Happy birthday Dr. King!
Happy to be apart of history. Congratulations to President Obama and the First Family.
Happy birthday Dr. King!
The holiday's were great! While at the Gaylord we went to see 'ICE' which in my words was Interesting-Cold-Entertaining. Best part of the trip was the fact the girls swam every night and hair was not a concern :-)
We have been on the go and thanks to Sisterlocks™ our hair is the least of our worries. I was inspired to drop in some pictures after a mom on facebook inquired about getting Sisterlocks™ for her daughter. One day I'm doing to post a video of my girls talking about their Sisterlocks™. To them it's just hair that they make look good wearing Lol....you gotta know my divas to get that comment. They don't lack self confidence.
The girls are enjoying the summer and the advantages of having Sisterlocks™ is priceless. The freedom to swim with no restrictions including no swim cap :-) And getting them cleaned up afterwards is a piece of cake.
Below are few random pictures highlighting their hair at play :-) Speaking of highlights, the ends of Abijah's (the oldest) hair appear as if they were colored. We both think this cool.
The pictures below highlight us on the go with our Sisterlocks. As a Girl Scout Troop Leader, I took a few of my girls to an encampment event. I threw on a hat and we (me and my locks) were good to go!
Also captured below is Jameila being honored as "Student of the Month" and me visiting her class for a Mother's Day celebration. In short our Sisterlocks are energetic, playful and smart ;-)
Enjoying the freedom....
The girls got dressed to attend Abijah's first piano recital. She was AWESOME!
The girls spent the spring break doing what they like best. Jameila enjoyed putting on a fashion show for us and Abijah (my little mermaid) had a blast playing in the water.
Having girls that ADORE their natural hair! Sisterlocks has brought so much freedom to me and my family. My girls are involved in many activities (ice skating, swimming, dance, Girl Scouts etc) and their hair is never a factor. One of the many beauties is that my husband is able to style their hair with no fuss or hassle. Give them an accessories and they can hook it up too!
Along the way I’ve also learned that kids don’t have the same hang-ups about hair as adults. Because their hair is so easy to style, I’m always trying to do something with it… and they just want to be left alone. Free to enjoy the simple things that kids love to do. And on most days, that’s just what we do. Braidouts are great because it only takes about 6 cornrows going back to give them crinkles that last for the entire week.
In most cases your fear of Sisterlocks is probably yours, and not your kids. I introduced the idea of Sisterlocks to my daughter by showing her pictures of them. Before I could get to the 2nd photo she was like “yes, I want them, I want them.” I was like wow, no convincing her. But again, she didn’t have the same hang-ups about hair as I did and my fear/hesitation was mine and not hers. I own that now, and have no fear or regrets about our Sisterlocks.
This blog is primarily dedicated to sharing my experience as the of mother two active Sisterlocks wearing girls.
